Software Engineering Lead

Age of Empires Legacy

Job description

  • Managing your team working on a C++ codebase on a custom (legacy) engine.
  • Guiding team members on code maintenance and new feature implementation.
  • Updating, writing new features and optimizing an existing engine.
  • Determining project requirements and developing work schedules for the team.
  • Delegating/tracking tasks and achieving daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
  • Working with a multidisciplinary team to align on overall project goals; work with other leads to complete projects.
  • Liaising with team members, management, and clients to ensure projects are completed to standard.

Qualifications

  • Proven C++ experience
  • Previous leadership experience.
  • 2+ years experience in the video game industry (with at least 1 completed project)
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • B2-C1 English level – conversational and written.
  • Player/Development experience with RTS games is a plus (especially Age of Empires)

(Senior) Software Engineer

Job description

  • Working in a C++ codebase on a custom (legacy) engine.
  • Generalist skillset, we’re not looking for a specialized set of skills.
  • Maintain and develop features for the game and the tools that go with it.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on features.
  • Regularly debug, profile and optimize code.

Qualifications

  • Proven C++ experience
  • Experience working in a team environment.
  • B2 English level – conversational and written.
  • Player/Development experience with RTS games is a plus (especially Age of Empires)
  • You will be asked to partake in a technical test to prove your skills.

  • Work in collaboration with colleagues and other teams to create a full game experience.
  • Adhere to design guidelines and ability to write design documentation.
  • Ability to balance design ambition within production constraints.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and integrate constructive feedback.
  • Anticipate, identify and articulate problem areas and develop solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven Level Design experience
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • Strong communication skills to convey your vision with other stakeholders on the team
  • B2 English level – conversational and written.
  • Player experience with RTS games is a plus (especially Age of Empires)

  • Designing high quality content for Age of Empires, for both the core game & live events.
  • Work in collaboration with colleagues and other teams to create a full experience.
  • Adhere to design guidelines from leads and ability to write design documentation.
  • Ability to create basic UI layouts and present them as wireframes.
  • Ability to conduct research on a wide variety of historical topics.
  • Ability to create reference sheets to visually present your ideas.
  • Ability to balance design and historicity.
  • Ability to balance design ambition within production constraints.
  • Ability to adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to interpret and integrate constructive feedback.
  • Anticipate, identify and articulate problem areas and develop solutions.

Qualifications

  • Proven Game Design experience
  • Experience working in a team environment
  • B2 English level – conversational and written.
  • Player experience with Age of Empires games is a requirement (other RTS game experience is a plus)
  • Passion for history is a plus.
