Age of Empires II: The Forgotten originally started as a modding project back in 2011, called Age of Empires II: Forgotten Empires. The project got gradually out of hand to the point where we felt confident on showing our mod to Microsoft, hoping there might be room to breathe new life into the decade old classic that Age of Empires II is.

Little did we know they were already working on their own revival of the series with a HD reboot of the game. After this proved to be successful we were offered the chance to turn our modding project into an official part of the series. An offer we couldn’t possibly refuse. For a full story on how the project came to life, please check out “The Story so far…”

Age of Empires II: The Forgotten features 5 brand new civilizations!

Thanks for this expansion, its great. I have some questions:

1. We know that Conquerors campaing had voices in both cutscenes and events. Do you guys will investigate how put this in Forgotten?
2. There is some complains at very videos I saw, but I have a certain fear with Game Destroyer and _Chiron_. Do you guys fix it in future patches?

1. Sadly we couldn’t get voice acting done last time around.
2. Chiron and Game Destroyer have been making awesome playthroughs for a long time now, so bugs they had in earlier versions are hopefully fixed by now 🙂

Another question.

In the Civilizations page there are maaany ideas, even for civs. Do you think in posterior patches you could add, atleast, african civs?

I’m so excited to have heard of this! So very excited! This is my first time ever hearing about this and I am so excited! I am super excited for the new Map size and Population limits! I am so eager to play ! But i have to add one minor detail. I love making realistic, proportionate maps of real world places, my latest map was Europe, North Africa, and India in a single map. I do this so friends and I can play as nations and create diplomatic solutions, treaties, and legislation as is carried out in the real… Read more »

Howdy, adding more players would actually be a lot of work and is not planned. The engine can barely pull 8 players in multiplayer as well. Adding more would be quite bad for performance. Keep enjoying the game!

I figured just as much. Thank you for replying anyway! And yes I will continue to enjoy the game as I have since 2008

Basically why I want there to be more players because I’d like to add more variety to the world we create when we play these custom real world scenarios. Currently in Europe Scandinavia is not represented (Vikings), Italy, Poland (Goths), India, China, Korea and Japan. I would be more than happy if the max players was bumped from 8 to 12. Anything more would be dessert! Again, this would be great and I just want to know on the possibility of this because with a new much larger map comes a new much larger world that needs to be filled.… Read more »

Thank you. I have been a fan since a decade and thought, AoE went history. Currently I’m watchin games on Zero Empires on Youtube and I’m happy that the game is still alive! Might be also because of you, so please keep it up. I came back to AoE 2, because I really miss Age of Empires Online. I loved the mix of AoE and Massive Multiplayer Online Leveling and Questing, also all the other AoE fans, which all in all definitly trained me well in the game, but Microsoft was like “Yeah, you payed for it, but the servers… Read more »
